About this Workshop:

Put on an apron and prepare for a fun evening learning letterpress! Make+Takes are the perfect way to try letterpress before jumping into a full-length workshop. During this session, we’ll guide you through the process of simple typesetting and printing your own coasters, using a prepared phrase and then one of your own! Everyone will have a chance to print their own small edition of coasters.

Level: Beginner—no experience necessary

Registration closes June 13, 2023 and includes all materials.

Registration includes all necessary materials – just come ready to have fun! Students may want to bring the following optional items:

  • Personal apron, or wear clothes that can get messy
  • Pencil and paper (if you want to take notes)
  • A few ideas for your personal coaster set – a simple word or very short phrase is ideal

Sara Blumberg loves creating designs through all aspects of letterpress printing. She fell in love with the art after taking an introductory printing class at Pyramid two years ago. During the day Sara works as a design and content strategist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. focusing on ocean missions. Most evenings you can find her making new designs or trying new color combinations in the studio. Before letterpress, Sara worked as a journalist in Baltimore.

“The teacher had set up some templates for us to try out before we did our own projects. Any ink color was available, and the wood type was already set out since the class time was short. I loved the whole class.”
