One-to-One, or Two-to-One, Custom Lessons (3 hours)
Are you interested in individual instruction on how to create your own handmade paper? A one-to-one lesson is catered to your needs. If you’re new to papermaking, work at your own pace and learn the basic techniques of Western-style hand papermaking, including pulp preparation, sheet forming, couching, pressing, and drying. The lesson also includes an overview of decorative techniques, including the use of pigments, inclusions, layering, and shaped deckles. Pulp additives such as sizing, retention agents, and formation aid are also covered. Have some previous experience or a specific project in mind? One-to-one lessons are also a great opportunity to practice techniques, learn more complicated processes, and receive assistance tailored to a specific project.
Registration includes purposeful scheduling to ensure the lesson works with your schedule and you’re partnered with the right instructor for your specific needs. In addition you will receive a brief consultation (by phone or email) with the instructor before the lesson and access to various tools, supplies, and other resources in the studio. Options to extend the learning for additional time and/or sessions are available.
No previous experience necessary. All levels welcome!
After you purchase your lesson, we will contact you within the next seven (7) days to set up a time and date that works with your schedule. To help speed up the process, please answer the questions provided at checkout.
Because lessons are customized, they are not eligible for discounts.
