Workshop Description:

A Virtual Workshop!

Block Printing for Beginners is a fun and relaxing two-session workshop (1 hour each) in which students will learn the basics of block printing. This workshop is open to artists and non-artists of all levels, ages 14 to adult.  Students are asked to purchase their own block printing kit in advance of the class and provide their own 4″ x 6″ idea, drawing or photo printed on copy paper for the first night. The class begins with a brief introduction to the materials, tools, and safety, then students will learn how to transfer their design or photo onto an “easy to carve” block. Next, everyone will be shown how to carve using a traditional basic carving tool.  The second night, participants will explore how to print, and will print 2 pieces of art during class, followed by the opportunity to see everyone’s new artwork. Ages 14 and up.

Registration closes November 22, 2021 to allow time for students to purchase their materials. With your registration you’ll receive the full materials list (with helpful links) to purchase your items, any helpful handouts about the process, as well as a quick 1-page “how-to” on downloading and using the Zoom video app.

Please Note: The online session will be recorded for Pyramid Atlantic’s private use to better optimize our programming and share as examples for funders. You may mute your microphone or turn off your camera if you do not wish to be recorded. Students will not have access to these recordings.
