About this Workshop:
This course will introduce the photographic transfer process into the creation of art objects. Participants will learn methods of applying images from print (i.e., laser printed images) onto various surfaces such as canvas, wood, bristol board, and plexiglass. Participants will learn this technique through both a demonstration of the process and through a presentation of the instructor’s work where the transfer process was used alone, or in conjunction with other media. In addition, the instructor will lead a discussion where this process will be compared and contrasted to other photographic methods of screenprinting.
Level: All levels welcome – no previous experience necessary

With your registration confirmation you’ll receive the full materials list (with helpful links) to purchase your items, any initial handouts about the process, as well as a quick 1-page “how-to” guide to using the Zoom video app.

You may mute your microphone or turn off your camera if you do not wish to be recorded. Access to the recording(s) will be made available to all participants for a limited time.
CLASS MATERIALS LIST:
At registration, students will receive the full materials list (with any helpful links) to purchase supplies. The list includes:
- Amsterdam Photo Transfer Gel (also available at Artists & Craftsman)
- 2 surfaces to print on (ideally two different types): Canvas, plexiglas, wood panel, bristol board, or any other non porous surface. Size should be between 9×12 in and 16 x20 in
- Foam paint brushes (between 1” and 2”) 2 or 3 of them
- Stiff board or old credit card, to act as a small squeegee
- X-acto knife
- Scissors
- A few laserjet (not inkjet) printed images (color or black and white) you’d like to work with
YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
O Horvath is a printmaker, librarian, educator and toymaker living in Baltimore. From 2013-2018 they were a resident artist at the Dirt Palace in Providence, RI, where they served as the coordinator for the printshop and zine library. Their work combines traditional print, zine culture, 3D printing, and animation in pursuit of playful freak futures.
