Create simple, bold greeting cards with wood type. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of working with wood type on a Vandercook press—from locking up type, registering paper, inking the rollers and pulling prints. Each student will choose one message to print, and we’ll all work together to print designs that we can trade at the end.
Level: Beginner – no experience necessary
Registration closes December 9, 2023 and includes all materials.
Registration includes a $15 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including paper, envelopes and ink. Students may want to consider bringing a few optional items of their own, including:
Sara Blumberg loves creating designs through all aspects of letterpress printing. She fell in love with the art after taking an introductory printing class at Pyramid two years ago. During the day Sara works as a design and content strategist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. focusing on ocean missions. Most evenings you can find her making new designs or trying new color combinations in the studio. Before letterpress, Sara worked as a journalist in Baltimore.
