An In-Studio Workshop!

Saturday, April 16, 10am-4pm

View our current in-studio Health and Safety Policies >>

About this Workshop:

Create simple, bold greeting cards with wood type. In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of working with wood type on a Vandercook press—from locking up type, registering paper, inking the rollers and pulling prints. Each student will choose one message to print, and we’ll all work together to print designs that we can trade at the end.

Level: Beginner – no experience necessary!

Registration extended to April 13, 2022 and includes all materials.

CLASS MATERIALS LIST:

Registration includes a $12 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including paper, envelopes and ink. Students may want to consider bringing a few optional items of their own, including:

  • Personal  apron
  • Pen and paper to take notes
  • A few one-word ideas for your greetings!

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Meghan Gordon loves the tactile and improvisational aspects of letterpress printing with wood and metal type. Many of her designs are inspired by modern takes on traditional quilt patterns. She has a journalism background and lives in Hyattsville. Check out her work @keepmaking on Instagram.
