About this Workshop:
Let’s have some fun with letters, ink and the presses! This workshop is inspired by the Dutch artist W.H. Werkman, who used letters as forms and played around with them to make art! Just like him, we will be applying the ink by hand and use the type upside down, like stamps. This way you don’t have to worry about technical stuff, but merely about the shapes you want to create and the colors you want to use.
Level: All levels welcome – No previous letterpress experience needed.
Registration closes May 9, 2022 and includes all materials.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Elisabeth Boerwinkel is a printmaker and illustrator from the Netherlands, currently living and working in Washington DC. She was most recently a Keyholder Resident for Fall/Winter 2021. Pulling her first prints in 2015 she fell in love with copperplate etching straight away. Later she wandered into a letterpress studio in Amsterdam and got obsessed with wood, metal, and heavy machinery. You can find her in the letterpress studio smelling the ink. Her work can be viewed @elisabeth_kunegonde on Instagram.
