What’s a PopBox? It’s a pop-up … in a box! It’s a paper-engineered structure that moves with the opening of a box rather than a card. When you bind four popboxes together, it’s a PopBox Cabinet. This collection of popboxes celebrates mutualism (pairs of animals that benefit from hanging out together) so the structures have dimension AND the drama of creature interaction. Join pop-up book artist extraordinaire, Shawn Sheehy in building this colorful, cheerful project—and since it’s built from a pre-cut kit, all you have to do is assemble and enjoy.
Level: Beginner—experience with basic pop-up structures, paper craft, and/or bookbinding techniques are helpful, but not necessary
Registration closes February 12, 2023 to allow time for the mailing of the workshop kit and for students to gather/purchase the additional materials. With your registration you’ll receive the full materials list (with helpful links) to purchase your items, any helpful handouts about the process, as well as a quick 1-page “how-to” on downloading and using the Zoom video app.
Please Note: The online session will be recorded for Pyramid Atlantic’s private use to better optimize our programming and share as examples for funders. You may mute your microphone or turn off your camera if you do not wish to be recorded. Access to the recording(s) will be made available to all participants for a limited time for additional note taking.
A $50 materials fee is included with registration to cover the packaging and shipping of the workshop kit, which includes pre-cut paper supplies for assembly. A second kit can be included for an additional $30 fee. In addition, students will need to gather/purchase a few additional supplies for class. The list includes:
