About this Workshop:
Join us for a 2-day exploration into techniques to create your own handmade books using an assortment of collage and mixed media materials. Together we’ll make book covers and internal pages with various types and weights of paper, then discover ways to incorporate personal materials such as photos, found papers, leftover gel prints, and other ephemera. We’ll also experiment with simple methods of making image transfers to further enhance your unique vision. We’ll cover a variety of book forms including drum leaf binding, accordion/concertina, and several types using pamphlet stitching. Whether you keep them as personal journals, travel sketch books, or transform them into mementos and gifts with personal memorabilia, we know you’ll agree—combining the beauty of 3-dimensional book forms and multimedia collage makes for the perfect pairing!
Level: Beginner—No previous experience necessary
Registration closes March 3, 2026. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students may/will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.
