About this Workshop:

Sugarlift is a painterly and direct approach to etching, where a sugar solution is applied to a plate, followed by a ground.  The sugar solution is then lifted off the plate, taking the ground with it, and thus revealing selective areas of the plate to then be etched and printed.  In this workshop, we are expanding this method by screen printing the sugar solution onto our plates, allowing even more options and creative freedom to the artist.  This is a multi-session class where we will be utilizing both the printshop and the screenprint studio to develop and print our plates.  This is a great workshop for those who have etched before and would like to broaden their skills.

Level: Intermediate – Experience with etching is required. It’s recommended that students have taken either Introduction to Etching (6 hrs), Etching Club, or have equivalent experience. Screenprinting experience is helpful, but not necessary.

Registration closes October 31, 2024. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students may/will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Nicole Parker is a fine artist specializing in representational oil painting and intaglio printmaking. She received her BFA and Certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of the fine arts in 2018.  She is greatly enriched and inspired by sensory sources like music, film, storytelling and food.  She joined Pyramid as a keyholder resident and was thrilled to stay on as an associate! Her work can be viewed at nicole-parker-art.com.
