Learn to create beautifully patterned, one-of-a-kind tea towels and t-shirts by using the Shibori Indigo method of dyeing fabric. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn the basics of various folding and binding techniques to create beautiful patterns on fabric.
Level: Beginner – no experience necessary
Registration extended to April 2, 2023. Materials fees are included with registration to cover the materials supplied in class. A small list of additional items needed will also be provided to students to bring to class.
Registration includes a $22 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including indigo dye, soda ash, pvc pipe, twine, and bags for transporting dyed pieces. Students should also gather/purchase the following items for class:
Note: Students should wear black or clothing they wouldn’t mind staining with indigo dye.
Sarah Matthews is a 2016 MA Art & the Book graduate from the Corcoran College of Arts and Design, and holds an MBA with a Marketing Concentration and BS in Sociology from Bowie State University.
