About this Workshop:
This workshop is a mashup! Students will get an introduction to both screenprinting and creative coding and will see how these two ways of making art share similar traits and combine in exciting ways.
The workshop breaks down into two parts. In Part 1, students will re-imagine the screenprint process as a computer program and will print a 3-color variable edition following a system of rules. In Part 2, students will join a video call to translate that rules system into code and recreate their screenprinted designs on the digital screen.
Learning something new can be intimidating! But we will take a gentle approach to both new disciplines. Like when learning a new language, no one will be expected to be fluent on their first day. Instead, this workshop seeks to offer the first steps for someone’s learning journey in these artistic practice areas.
Level: Beginner—Experience with screenprinting basics is helpful, but not required.
Registration closes October 21, 2025. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. With your registration confirmation you’ll receive a list of additional items to gather/purchase for class, your Zoom invitation link for Day 2 of class, as well as access to a quick guide on downloading and using the Zoom app.
