Learning to design in repeat unlocks for the artist not only a world of wallpaper and textiles patterns, but a technique to develop designs for ceramics, architecture, and computer graphics.
Students in this class will learn to design a repeat pattern for printing on fabric or paper yardage. They will learn to test and validate their design for its capacity to repeat seamlessly. Students will furthermore receive instruction in printing in repeat with Speedball ink on fabric using a rail system, and they will learn how to troubleshoot common issues in the process. This is a collaborative class and students will craft complementary designs in pairs and print as a team.
Level: Intermediate—Introduction to Screenprinting (Paper or Fabric) or similar experience with screenprinting (6 hours +) is recommended.
