About this Workshop:
Opheliagraph, sometimes called “Microwave” Mezzotint, is a method of producing a lusciously tonal, mezzotint-like plate without the use of acid or a rocking tool. Instead, this method utilizes carborundum, an abrasive grit, to texture the plate. Compared with the traditional mezzotint process, this method is relatively quick and much more cost-effective while offering very similar results. In this 2-day workshop we will learn how to prepare, build an image, and print opheliagraph plates. Students will come away with new knowledge, a finished plate, and a small edition of prints to take home.
Level: Beginner – No previous experience required
Registration closes October 29, 2025. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students may/will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.
