About this Workshop:

Curious about printing in color? Multiple plate printing is an amazing way to explore advanced color and layering techniques in intaglio. This 5-day workshop will cover planning, etching, and perfecting registration techniques to print a 2-plate image. We will also discuss some basic color theory concepts, as well as how to select and mix your ink colors. Students will each come away with a small edition of colorful prints, as well as a versatile knowledge base in multi-plate printing that can be expanded and built upon in the future. The techniques we will cover can be applied to an image with as many as 4 layered plates.

Level: Advanced Students must have previously taken either Introduction to Etching (6 hrs) or Etching Club, or have equivalent experience and are familiar with etching basics like plate prep, line etching, and aquatint.

Registration extended to September 1, 2023. Material fees are included with your registration, though you’ll also need to gather a small list of additional items for class.
