About this Workshop:

Come explore the world of pressure printing on our Vandercook presses using paper templates that we will design and cut out ourselves. This technique is fun to experiment with and allows for atmospheric effects not usually seen in relief printing.  No experience necessary—so no “pressure”!

Level: Beginner – no previous experience necessary

Registration closes May 7, 2024 and covers all materials—just come ready to have fun!

CLASS MATERIALS LIST:

Registration includes all needed materials. In addition, you may want to bring the following optional items for class:

  • Personal apron (or wear clothes that can get inky)
  • Notepad and pencil (if you want to take notes)
  • Any flat materials you might want to experiment with (think: leaves, paper towels, etc)—bring it! We can see if it prints!

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Sara Blumberg loves creating designs through all aspects of letterpress printing. She fell in love with the art after taking an introductory printing class at Pyramid two years ago. During the day Sara works as a design and content strategist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. focusing on ocean missions. Most evenings you can find her making new designs or trying new color combinations in the studio. Before letterpress, Sara worked as a journalist in Baltimore. Learn more about her work by following her in instagram at @juniperletterpress
