About this Workshop:
Learn about the basics of monotype printing using elements from the natural world. With spontaneity and experimentation in mind, we will ink and print directly from natural materials to create colorful and subtly detailed prints, both by hand and by using the press.
Level: Beginner – no previous experience necessary!
Registration closes May 13, 2026 and all materials are provided.

CLASS MATERIALS LIST:
Registration includes all materials—just come ready to have fun! In addition, you may want to bring the following optional items for class:
- (optional) Personal apron (we’ll have extras) and/or wear clothes that can get messy
- (optional) Notebook and pen if you’d like to take notes
- (optional) Any light to mid-weight papers from your stash you’d like to try printing on
- (optional but encouraged) Any flat natural items like leaves, flowers and stems, and feathers you’d like to experiment printing with. Note: round or bulky things like acorns, berries, thick bark or sticks won’t work well!
- (optional) Any flat textural items you’d like to try using as well, including doillies, mesh, string, etc.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR:

Gloria Ann Shows is a Filipino-American artist specializing in printmaking, fiber art, and book art. Her work has been featured in museums and galleries nationwide, including the Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art (OH), Turner Center for the Arts (GA), Davis Fine Arts Gallery (WV), the University of North Florida’s Gallery of Art, and Ruddell Gallery at Black Hills State University (SD). She has received grants from the Ohio Arts Council, The Ohio State University, and the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, and her awards include the Best in Traditional Techniques Award from the Oklahoma Printmaking Network and the Curator’s Choice Award at the Collect:Connect Exhibition. Shows is a member of Southern Graphics Council International and Mid America Print Council. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from the University of Central Oklahoma and her MFA from The Ohio State University. Learn more about her work by following her on Instagram at @gloriashowsart.
