Join us for a playful, inky evening in the print shop creating your own unique Artist Trading Cards with drypoint and monotype techniques on acrylic plexiglass.
Artist Trading Cards are an incredible low pressure way to swap art around the world. Most Artist Trading Cards are open to any materials and techniques as long as the card fits the dimensions 2.5”x3.5”. We will explore drypoint and monotype on plexi to make a variety of cards to swap when the opportunity presents itself!
The artist trading card was coined in 1997 by Swiss artist M. Vanci Stirnemann for an exhibition featuring 1200 handmade cards. On the final day of his exhibition, he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. This began a movement where ATC swaps were organized in many larger cities. Most recently, artist Jennifer Wilkin Penick hosted an ATC swap in Washington, DC.
Level: Beginner – no experience necessary!
