About this Workshop:
Do you have a fragile book? A paper back with loose pages? A Japanese stab binding? Join us for an afternoon of making protective enclosures. The two structures we will learn are the standard four-flap phase enclosure and the tuxedo box. Please bring two personal books to create your custom enclosures.
Level: Beginner – no experience necessary!
Registration closes November 15, 2025 and all materials are provided.

CLASS MATERIALS LIST:
Registration includes all materials—just come ready to have fun! In addition, you may want to bring the following optional items for class:
- (optional) Personal apron or smock (we’ll have extras)
- (optional) Notebook and pen if you’d like to take notes.
- 2 personal books, no larger than 8 ½ x 11 inches, to create custom enclosures for
YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Brittany Murray is a burgeoning library and archive conservator living in Washington, DC. She is in her final year at the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation and is currently interning at the Library of Congress. Brittany enjoys making historic book structures, researching the use of lead in historic bookmaking processes, and learning about different archival materials. When she is not at Pyramid Atlantic, Brittany can be found wandering around museums or watching horror movies.
