Love in Action: Movable Valentines

January 29, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$86.00 – $96.00

An Online Workshop!

Saturday, January 29, 1pm-4pm ET via Zoom

About this Workshop:

Impress your Valentine with ACTION not just words! Cut, paste and fold your fondest feelings into motion during this three hour online class by learning to use three paper engineering techniques that swivel, pop, and ripple your message of love into impressive 3-D valentines.  Using some basic techniques in combination with a curated selection of papers and your heart-felt creativity, we will learn to turn the swivel card, the squash book and the flag book concepts into affectionate greetings for your loved ones.

A materials kit created by the instructor is included with class registration (available for pick-up or shipping) with all cardstock, handmade prints, specialty papers, templates, glue, and ephemera needed for the class projects.

Level: All levels welcome.

Registration with class kit for shipping closes January 14, 2022; Registration with class kit pick-up closes January 19, 2022. Students will also receive a list of other needed tools and supplies to gather/purchase ahead of class, as well as a quick 1-page “how-to” on downloading and using the Zoom video app.

Your Instructor:

Jeana Foley is a lifelong maker and an art historian by training whose career at the Smithsonian led her to work as an exhibition researcher, writer and assistant curator of photography. Parenthood led her to combine her creative interests through teaching first to young audiences in her son’s schools and now in book arts and screen printing classes at Pyramid.  After being a long time volunteer at Pyramid, Jeana trained in the Apprentice program during 2019 and greatly appreciated the opportunity to work in depth on her book arts skills and gain invaluable inspiration from Pyramid’s encouraging environment.  Behind the scenes, Jeana wields both hammers and databases to coordinate Pyramid’s gallery exhibitions.

“Well-paced, so many activities, and the supply packet was amazing.”
