About this Workshop:
In this Letterpress workshop, students will create a variable edition of Letterpress Zines. We will start by setting type on the presses, and then using the ink wipes and other creative mark making techniques to create vibrant abstract effects. We experiment with different folding and binding techniques to create accordion and other one-page book structures. Whether you’re brand new to letterpress or have some experience with typesetting and printing, you’re sure to get inspired—and have fun doing it!
Level: All – Previous experience with typesetting and letterpress printing is welcome, but not necessary.
Registration extended to January 13, 2026. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students may/will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.

Note: For your safety we also recommend short sleeves only and that long hair be tied back.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Lauren Emeritz loves letters but not spelling. When she found out graphic design existed she signed right up! After loving that for a while, she wanted to get off the computer and get her hands dirty. Letterpress combines all her favorite things: type (especially wood type), paper, ink, creativity / problem-solving and making things by hand. You can find her on the interweb at: abstractorange.com
