Join us for an exciting introduction to the inky world of letterpress! Experience the art of letterpress printing, including how historical equipment is now used to make modern creations like persuasive posters and art prints. They’ll explore the differences between cylinder and platen presses, set a variety of type and images, mix ink, investigate the relationship between form and content in letterpress printing, and plan multi-step designs. Students will be able to experiment with different approaches as they express themselves with type, leaving with a small collection of 2-3 color prints. At the end of the workshop, students will have a basic understanding of how to properly use the equipment and operate in a functioning community print studio.
Please note: Students are responsible for providing their own lunch. A microwave and refrigerator are available for use during the lunch break.
Level: Beginner – no previous experience necessary
