About this Workshop:

Woodcut is considered to be one of the earliest of all printmaking methods. This 2-day introductory workshop will offer a chance to deep dive into the basic techniques and tips you’ll need to get started in this addictive medium. You’ll learn about selecting and preparing your wood, using the carving tools and keeping them well maintained, as well as carving techniques and tips.  Students are encouraged to design their own image up to 12”x10” before the workshop.

On day 2 we’ll learn about the art of inking and printing the wood blocks. Students will then pull a small edition of black and white proof prints using Pyramid’s American French Tool press.

Level: BeginnerPrevious experience with relief printmaking (linoleum, wood) is welcome, but not required.

Registration closes August 10, 2025. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students may/will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.
