About this Workshop:
Silverpoint drawing with fine silver is historically based in the Renaissance with artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Dürer, yet is still practiced today. Come learn the basics of this luminous and delicate medium with Artist Jenny Walton. Students will learn about surface preparation, ways to build tone through mark-making styles and explore materials and techniques associated with silverpoint drawing.
Level: Beginner—Drawing experience is recommended, but not required.
Registration closes February 27, 2023. Material fees are included with your registration, though a list of additional items needed to be gathered/purchased will be sent with your confirmation.

CLASS MATERIALS LIST:
Registration includes a $20 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including coated papers, sandpaper, tape, and silverpoint grounds. In addition, students will need to bring these supplies to class:
- 1 silver stylus
- 1 Premier Panel
- Heavyweight paper such as: One 22″ x 30″ sheet of hot press watercolor paper (example) or 1 pad of Strathmore printmaking paper
- (optional) Old Sterling Silver jewelry such as bracelet or ring or spoons (should not be plated)
YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Jenny Walton holds a BFA from Central Washington University and an MFA from American University (D.C. and Italy). Walton has shown nationally in New York, Miami, Boston, and Seattle and internationally in Italy. She was awarded an Artistic Fellowship from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities among several other grants and residencies including Vermont Studio Center, Pyramid Atlantic Art Center and Hamilton Princess, Bermuda. She has been critically published in several catalogs and articles and her work is held in several distinguished private and public collections. She lives and works in the Washington D.C. area.
