Ready to move beyond a one-color screenprint? In this silkscreen workshop, you will learn to design and register multi-layer prints. You will use overlapping layers to expand the color range of a print and continue to explore screenprint’s creative possibilities.
Level: Intermediate—Introduction to Screenprinting on Paper or similar screenprinting experience (6 hours) is required.
Registration extended to August 15, 2024. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.
Registration includes a $60 materials fee to cover consumable materials, including ink, tape, newsprint, emulsion and cleaners. It also covers the purchase of a new screen for you to take home to continue experimenting with multi-color layerings. In addition, students are requested to bring the following items:
Jeanette M. Bolden is a visual artist and printmaker based in Mount Rainier, Maryland. As a student, Bolden received The Washington Print Club’s 2021 Young Printer Award and was featured in the fall 2021 issue of On Paper: Journal of The Washington Print Club. In the summer of 2022, Bolden interned at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center and co-taught the Hispanic Heritage Month Internship Program. Toward the end of her academic program at the University of Maryland, she participated in the Honor Thesis and Senior Exhibition. Having graduated with a B.A. in studio arts as an honor student,she participated in the Exercises for Emerging Artists program by Transformer Gallery in 2023.
