About this Workshop:
Have you had some experience with both drypoint etching and chine collé and ready to take it to the next level or experiment further? Students will spend the first session developing their image, learning to proof the plate, and making adjustments. The second session will be spent working up a specific plan with the chine colle’ elements and the drypoint plate. Using prior knowledge of drypoint (or other Intaglio process), inking, adding collage elements, and printing, students will develop prints with intention and meaning and gain competence with the process. The students will also learn to create a registration system, prepare chine colle’ papers prior to inking the plate, and be introduced to two-color printing. Students will complete at least two plates and have six to eight prints made by the end of the second session.
Level: Intermediate – Introduction to etching, introduction to drypoint & chine collé, or similar experience (6 hours) necessary.
Registration closes September 19, 2022 to allow time for materials to be purchased and prepared. Material fees are included with your registration, though a list of additional items needed to be gathered/purchased will be sent with your confirmation.
