Sunday, September 17, and Saturday-Sunday, September 23-24, 1-5pm
Want to screenprint realistic photographic images but don’t know where to start? In this workshop, students will get a crash course of how to create a photographic image using CMYK color separation in Photoshop and screenprint their image in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) using water-based inks. Participants will learn both analog and digital methods of color separation as well as how to utilize basic concepts of transparent color theory when creating their prints.
Level: Intermediate—Introduction to Screenprinting on Paper or Fabric, or similar experience (6 hours), is required.
Registration closes September 12, 2023. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. A list of additional items students will need to gather/purchase for class will be sent with the registration confirmation email.
Registration includes a $50 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including inks, transparencies, screens, practice paper, tape, and newsprint. Students will need to supply additional materials of their own, including:
Eliza Clifford is a designer, educator, and multidisciplinary artist from Bethesda, Maryland. She earned a BFA Zin Graphic Design, Printmaking, and Book Arts along with a Certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019. Her work explores ideas of womanhood, mental health, gender, and how identities are constructed (and destructed). She explores these ideas through many mediums, including printmaking, illustration, book arts, textiles, and installation. Eliza has worked as an art instructor at Pyramid Atlantic, the Arlington Arts Center, and Arts on the Block.
