3-weeks: Sundays, June 1, 8, and 15, 10:30am-1:30pm
Learn the art of relief printing on fabric in this hands-on workshop. This course will guide you through designing, carving, and printing your own custom relief blocks to create unique, repeated patterns to print on fabric or paper. You’ll start by sketching ideas and transferring them onto your block, followed by carving and printing techniques.
Once your block is ready, you’ll learn how to mix textile inks, experiment with color combinations, and print your designs onto fabric by hand. We will provide fabric squares– feel free to bring your own textiles! The workshop will also cover tips for achieving consistent impressions, aligning patterns, and troubleshooting common challenges.
This class is perfect for artists, designers, or anyone interested in creating custom textiles for clothing, home décor, or art projects. Whether you’re new to printmaking or have prior experience, you’ll leave with your own printed fabric and the skills to continue exploring relief printing on textiles.
Level: Beginner – previous carving experience welcome, but not necessary
