Join us for an fun and intensive woodcut workshop with Outlaw Printmaker, rock star artist, and professional mountain dew drinker, Sean Starwars!
Be amazed as you learn everything you need to know to carve and print a 4-color image from multiple wood blocks, including tips and tricks for image preparation, tool selection and maintenance, ink mixing, as well as various carving and printing techniques. You’ll marvel at how quickly we go from a block of wood to colorful print. Whatever you do, don’t miss out on this opportunity. Come for an exciting, fast-paced weekend to hammer out some carvings and blast out some prints—Starwars style!
Level: All levels welcome—Some experience with relief printmaking/carving is helpful, but not necessary.
Please note: This workshop is physically intense from carving the woodblock to printing.
Registration closes April 25, 2024 and 12 noon. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.
Registration includes a $55 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including two 12”x15” wood blocks, ink, paper, and newsprint. Students will need to supply additional materials of their own, including:
Sean Starwars is proud to be an original member of the Outlaw Printmakers. His distinctive style and prolific work have rendered him one of the top contemporary printmakers in the U.S. Sean has an MFA in printmaking from LSU and a Graphic Design certificate from SCAD.
