About this Workshop:

Block Printing for Beginners is a fun and relaxing two-session workshop (3 hours each) in which students will learn the basics of block printing. This workshop is open to artists and non-artists of all levels. Students are asked to purchase their own block printing kit in advance of the class and provide their own 4″ x 6″ idea, drawing or photo printed on copy paper for the first night. The class begins with an introduction to the materials, tools, and safety, then students will learn how to transfer their design or photo onto an “easy to carve” block. Next, everyone will be shown how to carve using a traditional basic carving tool. The second night, participants will explore how to print, and will make several prints during class, followed by the opportunity to see everyone’s new artwork.

Level: Beginner – no previous experience necessary

Registration closes February 6, 2023 to allow time for students to gather/purchase their materials. With your registration confirmation you’ll receive the full materials list (with helpful links) to purchase your items, any initial handouts about the process, as well as a quick 1-page “how-to” guide to using the Zoom video app.
