Saturdays, March 8, 15, and 22, 1-4pm
Want to screenprint realistic photographic images but don’t know where to start? In this workshop, students will get a crash course of how to create a photographic image using CMYK color separation in Photoshop and screenprint their image in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) using water-based inks. Participants will learn both analog and digital methods of color separation as well as how to utilize basic concepts of transparent color theory when creating their prints.
Level: Intermediate—Introduction to Screenprinting on Paper or Fabric, or similar experience (6 hours), is required.
Registration closes February 28, 2025. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. A list of additional items students will need to gather/purchase for class will be sent with the registration confirmation email.
Registration includes a $45 materials fee to cover consumable materials provided in class, including inks, transparencies, screens, practice paper, tape, and newsprint. Students will need to supply additional materials of their own, including:
Eliza Clifford is an arts educator, printmaker, and multidisciplinary artist from Maryland. Her work explores ideas of womanhood, mental health, gender, and how identities are constructed (and destructed) in modern day society. As a multidisciplinary artist, she experiments in a variety of mediums, including printmaking, book arts, design, alternative photography, natural dyeing, and quilting/sewing. Clifford has worked and taught at the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, the Women’s Studio Workshop, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, Arts on the Block, and the Metropolitan Center for Visual Art (VisArts). She has been an artist in residence at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, the Remarque Print Workshop, and the Penland School of Craft. Clifford has been featured in exhibitions at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, the Washington Printmakers Gallery, the Baltimore Fine Print Fair, the Morgan Conservatory, the Torpedo Factory Art Center, and Kent State University.
