About this Workshop:
This workshop builds on the fundamentals of linoleum block printing and introduces the Jigsaw method, allowing artists to print multiple colors from a single block. Participants will cut and reassemble pieces of their linoleum block, inking them separately to create cohesive, multi-colored prints that can be printed all at once.
Workshop schedule:
- Day 1: Image design, transfer, and begin carving
- Day 2: Demo: Cutting from the whole, printing demo
- Day 3: Print day, editioning overview
The workshop covers techniques for cutting and carving linoleum, registering blocks for precise alignment, mixing ink, and printing by hand and with a press. Students will receive guided supervision and feedback during the carving process and learn effective inking and printing techniques.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a completed jigsaw linocut and have a collection of prints showcasing their work.
Level: Intermediate – Introduction to Relief Printmaking, or similar relief printmaking experience (6 hours) is required.
Registration extended to July 21, 2025. Material fees are included with your registration to cover the supplies provided in class. Students may/will need to gather/purchase additional materials for class (see the materials list below). This list will also be provided with the registration confirmation email.
