Bookbinding Lessons
One-to-One, or Two-to-One, Custom Lessons
(3 hours)
Learn how to make you own books—by yourself or with a friend! Lessons are a great opportunity to cater the learning to your interests, goals, and/or a particular project as well as your schedule. For those who are new to binding, we will cover all the basics, including appropriate materials and tools, qualities of paper, and the different properties of various adhesives. A typical introduction course includes a variety of structures such as a pamphlet stitch, accordion, and a Japanese stab binding. You will be able to leave with several binding styles under your belt, and the knowledge of how to adapt these three structures to make your own notebooks, journals, or albums. For those who already have some experience in bookbinding, lessons are a great place to learn a more complicated binding structure or receive assistance tailored to a specific project.
Registration includes purposeful scheduling to ensure the lesson works with your schedule and you are partnered with the right instructor for your specific needs. In addition you will receive a brief consultation (by phone or email) with the instructor before the lesson and access to various tools, supplies, and other resources in the studio. Options to extend the learning for additional time and/or sessions are available.
No previous experience necessary. All levels welcome!
After you purchase your lesson, we will contact you within the next seven (7) days to set up a time and date that works with your schedule. To help speed up the process, please answer the questions provided at checkout.
