Both internships are a partnership between the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission – Prince George’s County Department of Parks & Recreation (M-NCPPC) and the Pyramid Atlantic Art Center.
Participating students will be led by a teaching artist in the collaborative designs of the 2024 Black History Month and Hispanic Heritage Month posters for the M-NCPPC. Students will receive hands-on printmaking experience and artist lectures. The final image will be scanned/photographed for M-NCPPC to produce the large-scale print run of rolled posters for distribution to the public.
Each participating student artist will receive monetary compensation of up to $500, based on attendance and successful completion of the internship.

• Friday, June 9, 2023- Deadline to apply online is by 11:59pm
• Tuesday, June 20, 2023- Selected student artists notified
• Monday, June 26, 2023- Internship begins at Pyramid
• Thursday, July 20, 2023- Internship concludes
• Date TBA- Hispanic Heritage Celebration, poster unveiled
to the public
• September 2023- Distribution of posters to community
Daily Schedule
The internship will take place starting on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Pyramid Atlantic. Internship days will be Mondays through Thursdays from June 26 to July 20, 2023. The week of July 4th will be an exception, meetings will be July 3 and July 5-7. The internship hours will be from 10am to 2pm.

Daily Schedule
The internship will take place starting on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Pyramid Atlantic. Internship days will be Mondays through Thursdays from July 10 to August 10, 2023, 10am – 4pm for field trip days and 10am-2pm for in-studio workshop and guest lecture days.
Qualifications:
Both summer internships are open to all student artists, from rising ninth graders to graduating seniors, who attend High School or reside in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Rising ninth graders are eligible and invited to apply.
Prospective student interns should have a passion for the visual arts and Black History/Hispanic Heritage culture. These internships are open to all students, of any ethnicity or background.
Application Requirements:
Student artists must submit three examples of their artwork as well as a paragraph or two about themselves, their passion for art, and their interest in participating in the summer internship of their choosing.
